Parallax

Parallax is when an object appears to change its position because the person or instrument observing it has changed their position, the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions, e.g. through the viewfinder and the lens of a camera.

Zoom

To change smoothly from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa. A zoom effect is created by a mechanical assembly of lens elements for which the focal length can be varied, as opposed to a fixed focal length lens. A true zoom lens, also called a parfocal lens, is one that stays in focus when magnification/focal length is changed.

Pan & Tilt

Panning is when the viewpoint is moved horizontally left and right while its base position is fixed. The position of the viewpoint remains stationary, only the direction it faces changes. Tilting is when the viewpoint is moved vertically up and while its base position is fixed.

Dolly & Truck

Dollying is when the entire viewpoint is physically moved forwards and backwards from its original position, usually on some sort of secure track. Trucking is similar to dollying, only the entire viewpoint is physically moved left and right rather than in and out.
